Why we built a yoga app that watches you back
Video classes assume you already know what good form feels like. Most of us don't.
Most at-home yoga and pilates apps solve access. They make it easier to press play. That matters, but it leaves a quiet gap: the moment when your body is trying to follow an instruction and nobody is there to notice what actually happened.
The lonely part is not the workout
A video can tell you to stack your knee over your ankle. A good teacher can see that your foot is turned in, your hip is gripping, and your shoulders are trying to do the work your breath should be doing. That second layer is where confidence grows.
Kova began with that difference. We wanted the warmth of a coach, the privacy of home, and feedback that arrives while it can still change the movement.
The best cue is not louder. It is better timed.
Why AI belongs on the device
Form feedback asks for trust. If a camera is part of the practice, the privacy model has to be part of the product, not a footnote. Kova is built around on-device pose tracking so your camera feed stays on your iPhone or iPad.
That constraint shapes everything: gentle cues instead of surveillance, adaptation without stored video, and coaching that feels present without feeling invasive.
Feedback should feel like support, not scoring
A lot of fitness technology turns movement into a dashboard: streaks, rings, points, red warnings. Those can motivate some people, but they can also make practice feel like another place to perform. Yoga and pilates need a different emotional contract.
We want Kova to notice useful things without turning every wobble into a failure. A knee drifting inward is not a character flaw. It is simply a moment where a clear cue can help you find more support.
- Cue the smallest useful adjustment.
- Leave room for bodies that move differently.
- Treat consistency and comfort as real progress.
A practice that remembers
The long-term goal is not a perfect pose score. It is a practice you can keep. Kova learns from the sessions you finish, the movements that felt tender, and the rhythms that made you return the next day.
That memory should make the next session kinder and smarter. If your hips needed time yesterday, the app should not pretend you are a blank slate today. If short morning sessions are what you actually complete, your plan should respect that.
A good practice does not ask you to become someone else before it helps you.
That is why we built Kova as a companion for ordinary days. Not a studio replacement, not a medical authority, and not a camera that grades you. Just a calmer way to practice with guidance that pays attention.
Questions this guide answers
Is Kova a replacement for an in-person teacher?
No. Kova is built for guided home practice and real-time form cues, not medical care or hands-on instruction.
Does Kova store workout video?
No. Kova is designed around on-device pose tracking, so camera frames do not need to leave your device.
Practice before everyone else.
